4x4 1/10 Mobile Robot System is a wheeled mobile robot platform designed to be used as a body for wheeled mobile robots. The system solves all the problems associated with mechanical design process of a wheeled robot. The purpose of this design is to provide a product that eases the design and production process of the mechanical structure of a wheeled robot.
To start using 4x4 1/10 Mobile Robot System, the only thing you need to do is to provide electronics system to control the body. All other mechanical components are ready in the platform. The platform offers a strong body, a powerful brushed DC motor that provides traction to all wheels with the power train system, differential system to steer the front wheels in accordance to Ackermann steering principle with a servo controlling the steering system and four wheels. The platform also has a suspension system for safe locomotion on uneven terrain.
4x4 1/10 Mobile Robot System has a very powerful brushed DC motor that drives all the wheels. To control the motor all you have to do is to select a motor driver circuit and control it via a microcontroller system. Note that the motors are pretty powerful and you will need a good DC motor driver to supply the needed current to the motor.
In this mobile robot platform the steering system works according to the Ackermann principle similar to automobiles. The angles of the front wheels are controlled by a differential system which is driven by a servo motor. Servo motor control is pretty easy. You just have to send a PWM signal from any source to control the angle of the front wheels.
4x4 1/10 Mobile Robot System has space for mounting electronic system. The mounting holes on the free space can be used to mount electronic system or to add spacers to add another platform on the upper side of the body if more space is needed.
In robotics projects the design and production process of mechanical structure is often harder and longer. 4x4 1/10 Mobile Robot System provides an easy solution to this problem by providing the mechanical structure to be a ready system. The platform can be used by researchers to test their control systems as well as hobbyists who just want to control a mobile robot as they desire.
